The Supervisory Committee is conducting an independent verification of accounts. Any discrepancies regarding your account, please contact the Supervisory Committee in writing at P.O. Box 117, Buffalo, NY 14201.

 

April 1, 2014 - Two Ways to WIN Money

1) National Credit Union Youth Savings Challenge

Open a Savings Safari or Teen Cents account and/or make a deposit to your Savings Safari or Teen Cents account anytime during the month of April for your chance to WIN $100.00! Savings challenge sponsored by CUNA (Credit Union National Association). Must make a minimum deposit of $5.00; payroll deduction and direct deposit will not count as an entry into the drawing. Twenty-five credit unions will be selected by CUNA. If Buffalo Metropolitan is selected, one youth savings challenge participant will be randomly selected as the $100.00 prize winner.

2) Savings Safari Club Members - Enter the "Catch the Save Wave" coloring contest to be entered to WIN a $50.00 deposit to your account from Buffalo Metropolitan! Must be returned to the Credit Union by April 30th.

Teen Cents Members - Enter our facebook contest to be entered to WIN a $50.00 deposit to your account from Buffalo Metropolitan. On our facebook page post "why you think it is important for teens to learn money management." Post must be made by April 30th.

 

January 8, 2014 - 77th Annual Meeting

Please be advised that the 77th Annual Meeting of the Buffalo Metropolitan Federal Credit Union will be held at 62 S. Elmwood Ave., Buffalo, NY 14202 on 04/11/2014. The meeting will be held at 6:00 P.M. Refreshments and pastries will be served.  Nominating Committee has reported the following nominations:

Buffalo Metropolitan Federal Credit Union has adopted a mail ballot for the election of its officers. Those members who were not nominated by the nominating committee, and who wish to run for any office that has been considered by the nominating committee and a candidate nominated therefore, must file a petition containing the signatures and Social Security numbers of at least one hundred fifty-five (155) members in good standing as of December 31, 2013. Petitions may be obtained at our office during regular business hours on or after Saturday, January 11, 2014. Finally, all petitions must be filed at the Credit Union office no later than Saturday, March 1, 2014 by 1:00 P.M.

In order for those candidates to appear on the mail ballot a petition must be filed. To be effective, such nominations shall be accompanied by a signed certificate from the nominee or nominees stating that they are agreeable to nomination and will serve, if elected to office. A statement of qualifications and biographical data must accompany each nominee, by petition. No nominations for the offices mentioned above will be entertained by the chair at the annual meeting.

December 23, 2013 - Breach at Target Stores

Recently the news reported that about 40 million credit and debit cards have been impacted by a breach at Target stores. The affected cards were used at Target stores between November 27, 2013 and December 15, 2013. If you shopped at Target between these dates your card will be blocked and a new one reissued. Any questions please call 716.847.6960 ext. 238.

 

November 22, 2013 - Scholarships Available

Buffalo Metropolitan is participating in three scholarship programs for the 2014 scholastic year.  You must be a high school senior who is a member in good standing of the Buffalo Metropolitan to be eligible. The scholarship application must be returned to the Credit Union no later than 01/31/14.  

This application will be used for all three scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded in the amounts of $1,000.00, $750.00 and $500.00 and may be used at a two or four year accredited educational institution. In early spring, applications will be judged against other submissions statewide; one applicant from Buffalo Metropolitan will be guaranteed a $750.00 scholarship. Winners will be notified in May. Members are invited to a FREE Debt Management webinar hosted by Ken O’Connor, Director of Student Advocacy. This webinar is provided free of charge by LendKey, servicer of our private student loans. Valuable debt eliminating strategies that will be shared include:

  • Your post college budget: Where does the money go?
  • Reduce “everyday” costs and still have fun!
  • Know your student loan consolidation options.
  •   Implement a debt elimination strategy that works for you.

May 30, 2013 - Free Money & Me Workshop

Do you have a high school student in your house or family? Are you committed to instilling lessons of financial responsibilities upon them? A free program that gives teens money management skills is being offered by Buffalo Metropolitan Federal Credit Union. For five afternoons this summer, Buffalo Metropolitan is providing teens with the hands on experience through Money & Me. Graduates receive a $10.00 deposit for their BMFCU teen savings account and Letter of Reference for college or job applicants.

The 76th Annual Meeting of the Buffalo Metropolitan Federal Credit Union will be held at 62 S. Elmwood Ave., Buffalo, NY 14202 on April 12, 2013. The meeting will be held at 6:00 P.M. Refreshments and pastries will be served. Members can RSVP by calling 716.847.6960 ext. 227; the last day to RSVP is April 5, 2013.

January 11, 2013 - We Want Your Picture for Buffalo Metropolitan's New Commercial

Email your picture to inquiry@bflometrocu.org for a chance to be in Buffalo Metropolitan's new television commercial. Please make sure to include your first and last name in the email. Deadline to submit pictures is Monday, January 28, 2013.

By submitting a picture you grant Buffalo Metropolitan Federal Credit Union unlimited rights to use the photograph submitted for promotion, advertising, public relations and general programming uses either with or without reference to your name.
